L’opera trasforma un gesto tradizionalmente associato all’amore – il dono di una rosa – nel suo esatto contrario. Le pantofole, simbolo di casa, intimità e protezione, diventano un luogo ostile: al loro interno rimangono solo spine e steli recisi, ciò che resta quando la bellezza effimera del fiore svanisce. Indossarle significa accettare un ruolo che dovrebbe offrire conforto – quello della compagna, della moglie – ma che qui si rivela invece doloroso, capace di ferire fino al sangue.
Il lavoro mette in scena la violenza fisica e psicologica celata dietro la maschera dell’affetto, mostrando come l’amore, quando si piega al controllo e alla sopraffazione, lasci soltanto spine conficcate nella quotidianità.

The work transforms a gesture traditionally associated with love—the gift of a rose—into its exact opposite. The slippers, symbols of home, intimacy, and protection, become a hostile place: inside them remain only thorns and cut stems, what is left when the flower’s fleeting beauty fades. Wearing them means stepping into a role that should offer comfort—the role of partner or wife—but that here reveals itself as painful, capable of wounding to the point of bleeding.
The work stages the physical and psychological violence concealed behind the mask of affection, showing how love, when bent toward control and domination, leaves only thorns embedded in everyday life.
